New Ride-Booking App 'Namma Yatri' Empowers Delhi Residents to Customize Auto Ride Experience

In an exciting development for Delhiites, the newly launched Namma Yatri app allows users to take charge of their autorickshaw journeys by selecting their preferred fare and drivers. The app, inaugurated by Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Tuesday, ensures that the entire fare goes directly to the driver, eliminating any commission fees.

Developed in collaboration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), the app already boasts 10,000 auto-rickshaw drivers on board, contributing to a more convenient and sustainable transportation system in the national capital.

The ONDC, an initiative under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), played a key role in bringing this innovative ride-booking solution to the public.

With the Namma Yatri app, customers gain the flexibility to choose their preferred drivers and compare fare rates, according to T Koshy, MD and CEO at ONDC. He also revealed that the app's future plans include offering bus ticket booking facilities.

To join the platform, auto-rickshaw drivers simply need to pay a subscription fee of Rs. 25, granting them unlimited rides for a day.

The Delhi government highlighted the app's goal of enhancing first and last-mile connectivity through innovative solutions. The app already recognizes rides to and from metro stations as special, promising improved services for both drivers and customers. Looking ahead, the app aims to deeply integrate with public transportation through the ONDC Network, providing seamless multi-modal transportation and promoting sustainability in Delhi.
