NEW DELHI: Union Minister Jitendra Singh has introduced a new, streamlined pension application form for retiring central government employees. This new form, known as Form 6A, consolidates nine previous forms into a single, easy-to-use document. It will be available starting December 2024 on the Bhavishya and e-HRMS portals. The updated form is part of the government's initiative to simplify and digitize the pension application process, aligning with its "maximum governance-minimum government" policy. The new approach is designed to enhance ease of living for retirees and reduce paperwork. The Bhavishya portal, managed by the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare, aims to facilitate the processing of retirement dues and the issuance of Pension Payment Orders (PPO) on the day of retirement. It offers online tracking of pension applications and payments, allowing both retirees and administrative authorities to monitor and manage the pension process efficiently. Additionally, retirees can download their ePPOs from the portal. The eHRMS (electronic Human Resource Management System) contains detailed service records of government employees and supports this transition to a more digital process. The new simplified form and improvements to the Bhavishya system are expected to transform the pension processing landscape by reducing the complexity of form submissions and advancing the digitization of pension procedures. This move towards a paperless system aims to streamline the entire process from form submission to the commencement of pension payments. "This development is a significant step towards achieving a fully paperless pension process, making it easier for employees to manage their retirement benefits," an official statement said.
