Maintaining fitness is a common goal for many, but hectic schedules often hinder daily exercise routines. However, a recent study indicates that committing to exercise just two days a week could still yield significant health benefits, including weight reduction. The study, conducted in 2023 with a massive sample of 90,000 participants, found that individuals who exercised twice weekly had lower risks of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular issues compared to those who didn't exercise at all. Surprisingly, another study involving 351,000 participants revealed similar mortality rates between individuals exercising twice weekly and those exercising more frequently. Building upon these findings, researchers from the National Centre for Cardiovascular Diseases in Beijing initiated a new investigation. They employed Dual Energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA scan) to analyze bone mineral density and fat content in 9,600 participants. Among these, 4,000 individuals exercised for at least 150 minutes per week spread over three or more days. Conversely, 772 participants completed the same duration of exercise in just one or two days per week. Remarkably, both groups exhibited lower waist fat, reduced body mass index, and overall decreased fat deposition compared to non-exercisers. Despite differences in exercise frequency, participants in both categories achieved similar fitness outcomes, as per the research report.
