NIA files charges against 8 people in connection with the ISIS Kerala module

BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet in the ISIS Kerala Module case against eight people, including Deepthi Marla aka Maryam, the grand-daughter-in-law of late Karnataka Congress MLA B.M. Idinabba.

According to NIA sources, the accused were active in radicalising Muslim youth and recruiting them for the terrorist organisation ISIS.

Maryam, Mizha Siddeeque, Mohd Waqar Lone alias Wilson Kashmiri, Obaid Hamid Matta, , Shifa Haris alias Ayesha, Ammar Abdul Rahiman,  Madesh Shankar alias Abdullah and Muzamil Hassan Bhat are among those named in the charge sheet.

On March 5, 2021, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) opened an investigation into the terrorist actions of Mohammed Ameen @ Abu Yahya, a resident of Kerala, and his followers. These defendants were accused of running ISIS propaganda channels on several social media platforms, including Telegram, Hoop, and Instagram, in order to spread the violent Jihadi doctrine.
