Nicole Kidman joins cast of Taylor Sheridan's CIA drama series 'Lioness'

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Nicole Kidman is the latest actor to come on board Taylor Sheridan's upcoming series Lioness.

Based on a real-life CIA programme, Lioness follows Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira), a passionate but rough-around-the-edges young Marine chosen to join the CIA's Lioness Engagement Team to aid in the internal destruction of a terrorist organisation. Austin Hebert, Hannah Love Lanier, Stephanie Nur, Jonah Wharton, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, and Jill Wagner are also featured in the cast.

Since 'Lioness' was first announced, Kidman has been associated as an executive producer; the shift puts her in front of the camera on the programme, according to Variety report.

Kaitlyn Meade, portrayed by Kidman, is characterised as "Senior Supervisor at the CIA with a lengthy history of political game playing. She must balance the pressures of being a woman in the high-ranking intelligence community, a wife who yearns for the attention she herself can't even provide, and serving as a mentor to someone who appears to be headed down the same difficult path she has." Although Kidman is primarily recognised for her critically praised film performances, she has recently increased her activity and demand in the television industry. She is most well-known for her work on the successful drama "Big Little Lies," for which she received both the Emmy and Golden Globe awards for outstanding actress in a limited series.

Since then, she has acted in series for HBO and Hulu, including "The Undoing" and "Nine Perfect Strangers." In 2012, she was nominated for an Emmy for her work in the HBO film "Hemingway & Gellhorn."
