NSE Nifty versus BSE Sensex: In a tumultuous session on Thursday, the benchmark indices closed in the green for the third day in a row. Financial stocks lost ground as gains in oil and gas and pharmaceutical companies were offset by losses in financial equities. The Sensex closed up 157.45 points, or 0.27 percent, at 58,807.13, while the Nifty rose 47 points, or 0.27 percent, to 17,516.80. Around 2046 shares have increased in value, 1153 have decreased in value, and 115 have remained steady. Among the Sensex 30 equities, ITC was the biggest gainer. After the business announced its 'Institutional Investors and Financial Analysts Day' on Tuesday, December 14, the stock rose 5% to Rs 236. Today's trading session saw the stock rise for the third day in a row. Larsen & Toubro increased its share price by 3%. Other notable gainers included Asian Paints, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Bajaj Finance. HDFC Bank, on the other hand, fell 1.7 percent. Other major loses included Titan, Nestle India, and NTPC. The broader indices ended the day with significant gains. The BSE Midcap index increased by 0.4 percent, while the BSE Smallcap index increased by 0.8 percent. On the BSE, the overall breadth was also favourable, with approximately two gaining stocks for every dropping stock.
