CITY OF MEXICO: State authorities reported that nine people, including three women, were shot dead early Wednesday morning at a private property in Atlixco, a municipality in central Mexico's Puebla state. The Puebla Attorney General's Office was quoted by the Xinhua news as saying that one survivor was "in severe condition" after being shot in the head, leg, and shoulder. At a press conference, Puebla Governor Miguel Barbosa stated, "Everything points to the fact that this was an inter-gang execution." The residence where the victims were attacked was "a narcotics distribution and sales facility," according to preliminary investigations, he said. The fatalities have yet been be recognised, but Barbosa said they "obviously were not from Atlixco or Puebla." Following the attack, the governor announced on social media that federal, regional, and municipal officials had initiated a coordinated operation.
