Nine booked for sexually abusing girl child at Villupuram

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu police have detained nine people at Gingee, Villupuram district, including a 77-year-old man, for sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl.

Nine persons were detained by the Gingee All Woman Police, including the girl's male cousin (36) and aunt (50).  Mannakattai alias Venkatesan (77), R. Iyalaraja (28), M. Venkatesan (24), R. Prabhu (37), K. Babu (22), P. Ezhumalai (26) and A. Satyaraj (28) were among those detained.

The Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act was charged on Arrest of the the defendants.

The crime was discovered when the minor  girl was taken to a neighbouring hospital by her aunt after complaining of stomach ache, and it was found that she was four months pregnant following a thorough examination. The girl's parents had passed away, and she had gone to live with her aunt for her Plus 1 class. The defendants were brought before the court and remanded in jail.
