Nirbhaya rape and murder convict Akshay Singh filed review petition in Supreme Court

New Delhi: After being sentenced to death in Tihar Jail in the Nirbhaya rape and murder case, accused Akshay Kumar Singh has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court. The rehearsal petition of the other 3 convicts, in this case, has been dismissed earlier by the apex court. The Supreme court had sentenced the 4 convicts to death in this case.

It is noteworthy that the incident of Nirbhaya gang rape and murder took place on 16 December 2012. Pawan, a convict in the Nirbhaya case who was imprisoned in Mandoli Jail, has been shifted to Tihar Jail on Sunday (8 December). Now as soon as President Ramnath Kovind orders the mercy to be dismissed, then after 14 days, Akshay Singh will be hanged.
