With this budget, the middle class of the country was expecting that there would be some amendments in the tax slabs. However, tax-related relief has not been given to the middle class in this budget. On the other hand, for not getting tax concession, Nirmala Sitharaman replied through the verse of Mahabharata that why did not change the tax. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while reciting verse 11 of Chapter 72 of Shanti Parv of Mahabharata said- Dapyitvakaramdharmyam rashtranamnityayathavidhi. Asheshankalpyedrajayogakshemanatandritah॥11 The meaning of this verse is that 'No king should make arrangements for the welfare of the people by ruling according to the Raj Dharma, while not being lax and collecting taxes according to religion.' At the same time, reacting to this budget, PM Narendra Modi said that, 'This budget has brought new confidence of development, amid the worst disaster of 100 years, Corona epidemic. This budget, along with strengthening the economy, will create many new opportunities for the common man. PM Narendra Modi said that this budget is full of new possibilities of more infrastructure, more investment, more growth and more employment. This will also open up the sector of green jobs.
