New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has responded in Parliament to print new notes to tackle the financial crisis. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the government is not planning to print new notes to deal with the economic crisis caused by the corona epidemic. Replying to a question on the issue, Sitharaman said the government has no such plan. Many economists and experts had advised the government to print new currency notes to accelerate the covid-19 affected economy and secure jobs. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Nirmala Sitharaman said that India's real gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to decline by 7.3 per cent in fy 2020-21. The Finance Minister said that the decline reflects the impact of the epidemic and the efforts made to control it. Union Minister Sitharaman further said that the economy base remains strong and the lockdown in different parts of the country is gradually going off. Moreover, due to the Self-Reliant India Mission, the economy is on the path of recovery. The Central Government had announced a Special Economic Package of Rs. 29.87 lakh crore in 2020-21 to deal with the impact of corona epidemic. It was named as self-reliant India.
