No Ceasefire Violation on LoC as per Understanding, Says Indian Army

SRINAGAR: The Indian Army on Thursday, February 13, 2025,  denied reports of any ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC). The Army confirmed that the truce between India and Pakistan is still in place and both sides are following the agreement.

In a statement, the  Indian Army acknowledged a few recent incidents, like stray firing across the Line of Control and a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near an Army post. However, it said these were handled through the usual communication channels between both countries.

“The ceasefire on the LoC remains in place, and any minor incidents are being managed as per existing protocols,” the statement said.

Since India and Pakistan renewed their ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021, violations have been rare. This truce has lasted longer than most past agreements between the two countries. Despite tensions in India-Pakistan relations, the ceasefire has mostly held, thanks to behind-the-scenes talks between security officials.

The 2021 agreement was a big step forward, especially after the Pulwama attack in 2019, which led to India conducting airstrikes in Pakistan, followed by retaliatory action. The ceasefire has helped people living near the border by bringing much-needed peace.

After recent minor incidents, the Army said such occurrences are not unusual and have been discussed with the Pakistan Army. It assured that the situation is stable, and Indian forces remain on high alert.

With low snowfall this year, the Army is extra cautious about possible infiltration. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently reviewed the security situation in Srinagar.

Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. They started shooting at Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district without any provocation. The Indian Army quickly responded to the attack.

It is unclear how much damage was caused on the Pakistani side, but officials said the Pakistani forces suffered HEAVY CASUALTIES. The Indian Army has not confirmed or denied this.

This incident in the Krishna Ghati sector happened just one day after two Indian Army personnel, including a Captain, were killed in an IED explosion believed to have been set off by suspected terrorists near the LoC in Akhnoor sector.
