New Delhi: In view of the safety in trains, Railway is going to install CCTV cameras in coaches and stations. The zone which has the highest CCTV in coaches has become the western railway. Where 20 per cent of the total coaches engaged CCTV are from western railways. At the same time, the name of the Konkan railway is at the back. So far, only 42 coaches have been CCTV there. The Railway Minister has replied in the Lok Sabha in this regard. So far, 4934 coaches of trains running across the country have been CCTV, which monitor coaches. Western Railway has installed the highest number of cameras in a total of 17 zones. That is, most of the cameras have been installed in trains running from Mumbai. On the other hand, the Konkan railway has the lowest number of cameras installed in coaches. So far, only 42 coaches have CCTV cameras installed here. Though Konkan Railway is a very small zone, the second-highest in West Central Railway, where only 83 coaches are being monitored with cameras when it comes to normal zones. On the other hand, CCTV cameras have been installed at 838 stations across the country when it comes to stations. Cameras have not yet been installed in the halt. The central most central railway stations in stations have been equipped with cameras. CCTV cameras have been installed at 112 stations. These stations are being monitored from the control room. On the other hand, East Coast Railway has installed cameras in only 19 stations. Where it has been found that installation of cameras at stations is being carried out from Nirbhaya Fund. 983 stations have been identified for installation of CCTV cameras from Nirbhaya Fund. According to the Ministry of Railways, the data for the last three years of GRP from 2018 to 2020 shows that crime in trains has come down.
