Guwahati: Assam is in a state of turmoil these days over the NRC. The final list of NRC will come on August 31. People are living there under the shadow of fear. His concern is what will happen to him if his name does not come up in the last list. 36.28 lakh people have applied to include their names with new documents, but their uneasiness is growing steadily. The State Government has made all preparations in a precautionary measure. In spite of this, there is an atmosphere of terror all over the State. Meanwhile, many people are accused of joining the NRC using fake documents. The ruling BJP in the state has also questioned the NRC's impartiality exercise, alleging that several Bangladeshi nationals have joined in using fake documents. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had recently held a review meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of several districts to discuss measures to monitor the possible law and order situation arising out of the publication of the last list. Meanwhile, the authorities were asked to keep a close watch on the situation in the district. The district administration has also been asked to monitor fake news and rumors spreading on social media. Several central forces have also been deployed in sensitive areas. Millions of Hindi speakers and minorities could not find a place in the list. Several army and paramilitary personnel have also been declared as foreigners. It has terrorized people. They are not able to predict what will happen to them if they are not included in the final list. All Assam Bhojpuri Council President Mohan Kumar Shah says that the names of lakhs of people of Bihar and UP are missing from both the MRS drafts. On the other hand, Shantanu Mukherjee, general secretary of the Sara Assam Bengali Integration Forum, says that thousands of Hindu Bengalis are not named in the NRC due to lack of documents. Many people have committed suicide because of the NRC. The Opposition has been accusing the BJP of ruling on the issue.
