Odisha Governor wife breathed her last, Covid 19 victim

Mrs. Sushila devi, the First Lady of the Odisha State breathed her last late last night. Sushila Devi was undergoing treatment at the SUM Ultimate hospital due to post-Covid-19 complications. Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal’s wife Sushila Devi, Governor and four other members of her family had tested positive for COVID-19 on November 2 and were undergoing the treatment. 

As the state's firstlady was the COVID-19 positive victim when she passed away, the last rites will be completed as per State guidelines. Ahead of that the mortal remains will be taken to the Governor House before going to Puri Swargadwar where the last rites will be completed with full state honours. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief at the passing away of Smt Sushila Devi. Naveen in his condolence statement described her as a very warm and pious person. He conveyed his condolences to Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and other members of the bereaved family. 

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Busan Harichandan, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik, and several other leaders expressed grief at the passing away of Sushila Devi. AP Governor’s office tweeted, “Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswabhusan Harichandan expressed profound grief & sadness at sudden passing away of First Lady of Odisha, Smt. Susheela Devi, wife of Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal". AP governor said she was a warm and kind person with more concerns for the welfare of the poor and needy and actively participated in several programmes.
