Olympic doping scandal:Russian PM suspends official

Deputy Sports Minister Yury Nagornykh, has been suspended by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev for being named in a report on the doping of Russian athletes at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

"Russian officials named in the World Anti-Doping Agency's report would be temporarily suspended", said President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

It has been advised by Nagornykh to every positive test across all sports from 2011 onwards and decided who would benefit from a cover-up and who would not be protected.

Canadian sports lawyer Richard McLaren, led the investigation.

"I hope that the IOC, while taking up a decision, will be guided by common sense and will proceed from the fact that there is no a concrete confirmation of a violation by this or that athlete in the report," said Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko.
