Online Business Brand or Personal Brand? Here's what entrepreneur Abhay Sharma recommends.

When it comes to building a business brand or a personal brand, the most critical question is, "should my business be attached to my identity, or can it grow standalone without me"? It is a tough choice to make, especially when you are just starting as an entrepreneur.

That's where having a vision is so critical. So what is a personal brand and a business brand? And what is the difference between them? Here's a quick differentiating factor: The personal brand is built around you, stating your personality, talents, works, and interests. The business brand is built around identity for your business and products/service offerings.

In the interview, Abhay Sharma said, "I knew I want to be an entrepreneur, and I was very clear of building a personal brand – abhaysharma.com with a vision to help people around the world in different ways. Whether it is technology or enterprise business implementation and consulting or online business and automation, there was a need to build multiple businesses catering to different verticals. At the same time, each business must be a brand that can continue to help people whether I'm there or not. There's a long way to go, but the structure has started taking shape."

Abhay Sharma also further adds that creating a personal or business brand is the doer's choice. Whatever he chooses, he must go according to the protocol and not make a loss unintentionally. While stepping into the online business field, making the correct choice is essential because there are many distractive contents and not many real mentors.

We embark on the journey based on our knowledge, learnings, the internet, and bits of advice. But still, it doesn't remove a risk. That's not the problem, the risk is everywhere, and business is a risk in itself. So, how the mission starts?

It starts with a vision, and there itself, we should be clear enough to make one of them a primary focus (between personal and business brand). It's comparatively easier to build a personal brand, but business brands are easier to sell.

Each of the types offers us an ample amount of details, clarifying our motives and aims. You might need some of the things that are a plus point in personal brand, in the same way, someone might need something from a different perspective.

Abhay Sharma suggested that "You got to sit and pen down your vision to all those struggling to decide. Do you want to build and grow a successful business formed around your identity, and you want people to remember you for your business, or want to build multiple businesses that can work and grow without you being the face? There's no wrong choice; it's all about your vision and what gives you happiness. Once you have decided and started working towards it, you can always reconsider changing the focus later, but it may be challenging. So, the best choice it to start with the end in mind."
