New Delhi: After the winter session, the Upper House of Parliament was adjourned sine die after opposition leaders read out the preamble to the Constitution outside Parliament in support of suspended MPs. Earlier, the Upper House has adjourned sine die on Wednesday, a day before the scheduled date. Later, opposition leaders including the Leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge read the preamble to the Constitution of India along with suspended MPs and also sang the national anthem in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Parliament to protest against the suspension of MPs. On the first day of the winter session of Parliament, 12 members of several opposition parties including Congress and TMC were suspended from the Rajya Sabha in the Upper House. These members were suspended for the remaining period of the winter session for "indecent conduct" during the monsoon session. The opposition then continued to demand the withdrawal of the suspension of the members, which led to an uproar by opposition members in both the Houses of Parliament. On the other hand, the Government insisted that unless the suspended members apologise, their suspension will not be withdrawn. It was for these reasons that the House was disrupted several times. After parliament was adjourned sine die on Wednesday, opposition MPs recited the national anthem in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and also read the preamble to the Constitution. At the same time, opposition members raised slogans of Jai Hind and Jai Bhim.
