Agitated over detention of Jammu and Kashmir Congress leader, Chidambaram says court will decide now

New Delhi: Since the removal of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, there have been frequent backlashes from Congress leaders. Now Congress veteran and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that the court is hopeful that the court will take any action on it now. He also questioned the detention of Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee Chairman Ghulam Ahmad Mir.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Finance Minister P Chidambaram raised questions about the government's policies on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. In a tweet, Chidambaram wrote, "I hope the court will take action and ensure the freedom of citizens. Chidambaram has said that the government has no right to disrupt the freedom of citizens. This is a violation of Section 21 of the Constitution.

He also questioned the detention of Congress Jammu and Kashmir State President Ghulam Ahmad Mir. He said it is completely illegal to house him in Jammu without a written order. The Modi government removed Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5. The Congress and the local political parties in Jammu and Kashmir are opposing it.
