Padma Shri Nanda Sir No More

Bhubaneswar: Padma Shri Nanda sir passed away at the age of 104. He was infected with corona and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital. This was reported by his grandson Khageshwar Prushti. He has so far maintained the tradition of Chatshali.

The Chatshali tradition means a non-formal school for primary education in Odisha. Children gather near their house every morning. These children are taught the letters and mathematics of the old Nandkishore Oriya. For your information, 102-year-olds could not go to school in their childhood, but they taught other children to read and write so that children and adults could learn to sign.

The enthusiastic and passionate elderly people work till 6 p.m. to teach. They did not charge any child to teach. He has been teaching children for the last 70 years, but to date, he has not taken a single rupee for it. He believes that he loves teaching children.
