Islamabad: Saudi Arabia has shown hesitation over Pakistan's demand to call a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CMF) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the Kashmir issue. A Pakistani diplomatic source has given this information. According to the 'Dawn' report, OIC high officials are scheduled to meet in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 9 February in connection with the preparations for the OIC CMF routine meeting.

Prior to this meeting, a diplomatic source has said that Saudi Arabia is reluctant to fulfill Pakistan's demand to call a meeting of CMF on the Kashmir issue without delay. Pakistan's patience is responding to the OIC's failure to hold this meeting. Pakistan's PM Imran Khan, in an event on a recent visit to Malaysia, underlined the division between Muslim countries and said that the Organization of Muslim Countries could not call a meeting on the issue of OIC Kashmir.

57 Muslim countries are members of OIC. Pakistan wants a meeting of the foreign ministers of the OIC to consider the decision of the Government of India to withdraw special status from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year. However, this meeting of foreign ministers is not happening.
