Pakistan military says Asif Ali Zardari should name person who contacted him

Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari should name the person who contacted him on behalf of the Pakistan establishment and asked for his assistance with a future setup, as per reports.

The source lamented that statements and hints about "deals" (with Pakistani establishment) are made on occasion, which is both unfortunate and irresponsible.  It said,  if Zardari is telling the truth, he should name the person who contacted him and asked for his assistance. An important source stated that defence officials do not want to engage in any unnecessary debate with such politicians who issue strange statements with no solid basis.

It said, there is a general trend of blaming the military establishment for everything. People frequently talk about "deals" with the establishment but never name those who approach them or with whom they make the "deals."

PPP Co-Chairman and former Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said on Monday that he needed to think about the future because those with formulas were asking for assistance. He did not name the military establishment, but his indirect reference in his speech made it clear. The former president said, without naming anyone, that he had told certain quarters that no talks would be possible until the government was removed.
