Pakistani Christians protest for property and life protection

The organisation demanded that the assailants who shot and killed Pastor William Siraj and wounded Pastor Patrick Naeem in Peshawar last week be apprehended and punished. Chairman of the Muttahida Masihi Council Noel Ijaz, protesting in front of the Karachi Press Club, claimed that the Christian community's sense of fear has grown as a result of the brutal killing.

"If the police are successful in arresting the assailants and the offenders are found guilty of their crimes, we will feel more secure." According to the research, "it is a sad truth that assailants participating in the persecution of minorities frequently enjoy impunity."

According to the survey, when minorities are attacked, perceived police and government inactivity gives the perception that minorities are considered as second-class citizens who are not treated equally. Asif Bastian, another demonstrator, bemoaned the government's approach, which he said emboldens terrorists and extremists to harass and assault minorities, especially Christians, with impunity.

"Time and time again, religious minority are knocked down, and we find no protection." If we fight back, the police will arrest us, but the perpetrators of mob attacks on minority settlements will get away with their crimes," he said.
