Actor Parambrata Chatterjee says Is Hindi cinema the only national cinema?

Bengali cinema artists participated during India Today Conclave East, 2019. The show also featured actors like Bollywood actor Parambrata Chatterjee and Sayani Gupta. On one hand, where Parambrata Chatterjee has worked in films like Kahaani and Pari, on the other hand, on the other hand, he has also appeared in films like Margherita with a Straw, Parched, Bar Bar Dekho and Fan. Parambrat Chatterjee has told during the interview that Hindi cinema gets more space in Bengali film industry than Bengali cinema.

Let me tell you, during the conversation there was a discussion about what is the legacy of Bengal cinema. Why do these films struggle to release within West Bengal itself. Apart from this, he also spoke on comparing Bengali films to Bengali films. Parambrata Chatterjee said- “I would like to say first that I am a big fan of Bollywood. When I was watching Satyajit Ray and Ritvik Ghatak's films, I used to watch Amitabh Bachchan's films as well. Now my question is, who should compare regional cinema with. Should it be done from Bollywood cinema or national cinema? Is Hindi Cinema the National Cinema? ''

Further, Parambrat Chatterjee said that now that our cinema is being released outside the state, we should not forget that sometimes even Bengali cinema itself does not get proper screens to release in Bengal. In Kolkata, an average Hindi film gets 20 shows in a day, while big Bengali films do not get more than 5 shows and those who are small budget Bengali films do not get screens at all.

Apart from Parambrata Chatterjee and Sayani Gupta, during the conversation, actress Paoli Dam, actor Arjun Chakraborty and film director Anik Dutta were also present who gave their opinion on various issues related to cinema.
