Paris Olympics 2024: Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh have won the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. On Tuesday, the Indian duo triumphed over South Korea with a score of 16-10. Although Bhaker and Singh had a slow start, losing the first series, they quickly regained their composure. By the third series, they had taken the lead with a score of 4-2, and extended it to 8-2 by the fifth series. Despite South Korea narrowing the gap to 6-10 by the eighth series, the Indian team maintained their focus and secured victory with a comfortable margin. This bronze medal is Sarabjot Singh’s first Olympic medal. Manu Bhaker, on the other hand, has made history by becoming the first Indian to win multiple medals at a single Olympic Games. She had earlier earned a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the same Olympics. Manu Bhaker’s achievement is notable as it echoes the performance of British-Indian athlete Norman Pritchard, who won two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, marking a significant accomplishment during the pre-independence era.
