Patnaik launches 'Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva’ for 4 remote districts

Odisha- Bhubaneswar:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched the 'Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva' (CM's air health service) for the state's four remote districts. The service is now available in the tribal-dominated districts of Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Nuapada. Patients will be treated by specialists such as neurologists, nephrologists, and cardiologists who will be flown to the district headquarter hospitals (DHHs).

Patnaik launched the service by flagging off a chopper from Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA). On Monday, a six-person team comprised of doctors from super-speciality departments flew to Malkangiri. According to officials, the state government will cover the costs of the service.

Health Minister Naba Kishore Das described it as a historic step in healthcare, saying, "The main objective of the programme is to provide quality health services to patients who are unable to visit cities like Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to avail super-speciality care." "The service was launched in four districts in the first phase. If necessary, we will extend the service to other locations that lack adequate communication facilities "Das stated.
