Shimla: After the Sixth Pay Commission, the Himachal Pradesh government has set a new pay schedule for its workers. At the same time, the time it takes for contract workers to complete their contracts has been cut from three to two years. Cm Jai Ram Thakur announced a new pay scale for state government employees on January 1, 2016, while speaking to the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of the Himachal Pradesh Non-Gazetted Employees' Federation on Saturday. According to the amended pay schedule, the salary for January 2022 will be paid in February 2022. The state government now spends roughly 43% of its entire budget on employees and retirees, which would rise to 50% with the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission, according to the CM. The CM said that all pensioners and family pensioners will also be given revised pension and other pension benefits from 1st January 2016. CM said, the state would be burdened with an additional Rs 6,000 crore in yearly costs as a result of the new pay grades and amended pension. He stated that instead of 0.3 years, the contractors will now be regularised after two years. In addition, in the case of daily salaried employees, part-time workers, water guards and water carriers, etc., one year will be decreased for regularization/daily salary changes. The Chief Minister has promised an additional Rs 10 crore in order to pay up outstanding medical reimbursement costs. He stated that a committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to make compassionate appointments. The Committee will deliver its findings at the Cabinet's next meeting.
