Gariaband: Three persons died after they drowned in a dam in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district on Thursday. Among the dead were a woman and two men. All of them had come here for a picnic along with other people working in their institute. The police reported this. Giving a report, Additional Superintendent of Police, Gariaband, Chandresh Singh Thakur said that the case pertains to the Kukda dam where 10 employees of an NGO had gone for a hike. He said the dead have been identified. He said the deceased has been identified as Ritu Kumari. Of the two men, one is named Rakesh Teta and the other is named Lakshya Verma. The deceased, Ritu Kumari, was originally from Jharkhand and was living in the Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh these days. Thakur said Rakesh Teta was a resident of the Kanker district, while Lakshya Verma was a resident of Raipur city. At the same time, Thakur said that after receiving the information, the police and district administration officials rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. He said the woman was pulled out of the water and taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
