Chandigarh: A major announcement of the Channi government has come to light ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab. In fact, CM Charanjeet Singh Channi recently made a big announcement saying, "We have decided to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre and Rs 5 per litre respectively to come into effect from midnight tonight. You must be aware that a big decision on petrol and diesel prices was taken by the Central Government a day before Diwali. In fact, the Central Government had cut the prices of petrol and diesel and after that, there was a big relief to the people. The Punjab government has now decided to cut what is said to be the best. The decision to make the cut is set to come into effect from tonight itself. Let me tell you that earlier a notification was issued by the Chandigarh administration and VAT was reduced in the prices of petrol and diesel, which was issued from 4th November. Let me tell all of you that not only in Punjab, but the Shivraj Government of Madhya Pradesh has reduced VAT on petrol and diesel by 4-4%. In fact, petrol has become cheaper by Rs 11.97 and diesel by Rs 16.95 per litre after the Central Excise and State Government introduced VAT. Let me tell you that the Central Government has reduced rs 6.27 on petrol and Rs 12.50 on diesel and Madhya Pradesh has reduced petrol prices by Rs 5.70 and diesel by Rs 4.45 per litre.
