The Greek for photography is “Painting with light” and that is how I look at this beautiful form of art. I have been a photographer for over a decade, and I can still say that I am learning towards deepening my understanding of photography as an art form. As a young self-taught photographer on street, I was filled with enthusiasm and curiosity without which I feel, a photographer’s true journey doesn’t really begin. I did not have any formal training in the field of photography. The skills were learned gradually, sometimes on the job. Mistakes and motivation both play an equally important part in my journey as a photographer. When I started, I did not have the right equipment or a deep understanding of the techniques, however, I always felt strongly about the medium. For me, Photography is pure art-the Photographer is an artist. Anyone can look at a picture and form an opinion about what they see. Yet a photograph often represents much more than just aesthetics. I believe that as an art form, photography deals with expression, meaning, narrative, value along with aesthetics. A photograph is inherently more precious than a worldly material possession. It is a powerful tool and I try to handle it with responsibility. What Started as a hobby became a full-fledged occupation for me. Photography became an integral part of my livelihood. Digital media is the platform that gave me the space to show my world through my lens. In the current period where digital media is at its peak, it's a continuous challenge for the ones who are in this industry. In the coming times, I engaged myself in the world of trends and gained a huge amount of following on social media. I tried to use social media as an idea generator & trend mapper. My page, KASHMIRINMYLENS - https://instagram.com/kashmirinmylens/ exhibits the picturesque & enchanting beauty of Kashmir. You can determine the genuine aspirations for the day-to-day life of the people of Kashmir from my page. This page is solely devoted to the rich culture & lifestyle of my people. The purpose and function of my skill are to build important social and cultural narratives, celebrate the intricate and detailed culture of Kashmir, and preserve and communicate the heritage of my state. Making it a profession, I started my own business of wedding photography in 2015 with the name 'Kashmir Wedding'. My enterprise “Kashmir Wedding” ( https://instagram.com/kashmirwedding/) is dedicated to this purpose. I endeavor to retain and convey the value and meaning of the subject with each picture I take and publish. Kashmir Wedding showcases the extravagant traditions, cuisines & the union of two families and has made its name all over Kashmir through our unique & committed work. More so, when one gets a chance to photograph a place as vivid, beautiful, and culturally engaging as Kashmir, it is important to acknowledge the natives, artists, and people of the state who generously give permission to reproduce their images. I am grateful that I get to participate, even if momentarily, to share a part of their story, to arrange a glimpse into their lives via my photographs. That is what makes it all worthwhile. Video!!
