Petition filed in SC seeking directions for doubling number of judges in HC

New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on Monday requesting that the Center, States and Union Territories take steps to double the number of judges in the High Court and its related courts and judicial disposal of cases in three years Instructions should be given to implementing declaration form.

Explain that a total of 1,079 posts of judges have been approved for the 25 High Courts of the country and according to the latest report, 414 of these posts are vacant. BJP leader and lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay has filed a PIL and has made all the High Courts, States, Union Territories, Union Home Ministry and Law and Justice Ministry as parties. The petition said that more than five crore cases from the lower courts to the Supreme Court are under consideration in the country and the delay in their disposal is violating the fundamental rights of the citizens immediately.

The petition states that willful and excessive delay in hearing of cases is a violation of Article 21. The right to speedy justice is the fundamental right of every citizen, which cannot be taken away. With this said that this is an important part of the right to life and the right to freedom and if fair and immediate justice is not found, then the judicial process is meaningless.
