PM expresses grief over Soumitra Chatterjee's death

Eminent veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee breathed his last at 12.15 pm on Sunday. For a long time, doctors had made a lot of efforts to improve the health of Soumitra in the hospital. But his health was getting worse day by day. His demise to the world has caused a big shock to his fans and stars.

On social media, a tribute is being paid to Soumitra Chatterjee by remembering him. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has also mourned the demise of Soumitra Chatterjee through a tweet. PM Modi tweeted and wrote, 'Mr. Soumitra Chatterjee's death is a big loss for the cinema world, the culture of West Bengal and the country. He showed Bengali sensibilities, feelings and temperament through his work. I am deeply saddened by his departure. May God give strength to his family and loved ones. om Shanti.'

Apart from PM Modi, President of India Ram Nath Kovind also expressed grief over Soumitra's departure. In Bollywood too, a wave of mourning ran after this news. Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Randeep Hooda, Rahul Bose along with others have tweeted about Soumitra and paid tribute to him. Soumitra Chatterjee was a legend of Bengali cinema. He started his career with the movie 'Apur Sansar' in 1959.
