PM Modi said that we have adopted some new methods in many parts of the country for land reforms. Land reforms can usher in a good cycle of good soil health, increased land productivity, food security and better livelihoods. Giving an example, PM Modi said that Kutch in Gujarat has mostly wasteland. The area receives very little rain. In this case, grasslands were created in the area to improve the land. The land was prevented from becoming barren and desert by planting grass. PM Modi said this helped in the restoration of land as well as the activities and livelihoods associated with shepherding by promoting animal husbandry. PM Modi said similarly there is a need to formulate a strategy promoting local technologies for land restoration.
