PM Modi Condemns Attack on Slovak PM Fico, Wishes Him Quick Recovery

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly denounced the recent shooting incident targeting Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, labeling it as a "cowardly and despicable act". Expressing his concern, PM Modi conveyed his heartfelt wishes for the swift recuperation of the Slovak PM. Additionally, he extended solidarity to the people of Slovakia in this challenging time.

Taking to social media, PM Modi expressed his deep shock upon learning about the unfortunate shooting incident involving Slovakia's Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Robert Fico. He unequivocally condemned the reprehensible attack and urged for swift justice. India, he affirmed, stands firmly with the Slovak Republic in the face of such adversity.

Robert Fico, a four-time Prime Minister of Slovakia, sustained injuries in the shooting, which occurred on Wednesday in Handlova, as reported by local newspaper, The Slovak Spectator. Following the attack, he was promptly hospitalized for medical treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported multiple gunshots fired as the Prime Minister emerged to greet the welcoming crowd. The alleged perpetrator was swiftly apprehended at the scene, and precautionary evacuations were conducted.

The incident unfolded after a governmental session in Handlova, culminating in the hospitalization of the Prime Minister.

Global leaders joined in condemning the cowardly assault on Slovak PM Robert Fico, extending their well wishes for his speedy recovery.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his shock, stating, "Shocked to hear this awful news. All our thoughts are with Prime Minister Fico and his family."

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy echoed similar sentiments, condemning the violent act against Slovakia's head of state. "The attack on Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico is appalling. We strongly condemn this act of violence against our neighboring partner state's head of government," Zelenskyy conveyed on social media.
