PM Modi congratulates Hungarian PM Viktor Orban on poll victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban on his party's parliamentary election victory on Monday, saying he looked forward to continuing to work with him to deepen the close and friendly connections between India and Hungary.

Hungary's nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban said victory in Sunday's national elections, claiming a mandate for a fourth term despite a still-uncompleted vote count showing his right-wing party in a solid lead.

"Congratulations, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, on your win in Hungary's parliamentary elections," Modi tweeted. I look forward to continuing to work with you to improve the close and friendly connections between India and Hungary."

Hungarian polls opened early Sunday in Hungary, giving voters the option of voting for a broad, Western-looking alliance of opposition parties or giving nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban a fourth consecutive term in government.
