They ascended to the roof of the Congress building, which houses Brazil's Senate and Chamber of Deputies, and spread out a banner that read "intervention" and appeared to be a plea to the country's military. Images on the television network Globo News also depicted demonstrators wandering about the presidential palace, many of them donning the Brazilian flag's primary colours of green and yellow, which have come to represent the Bolsonaro administration. Al Jazeera claimed that security personnel deployed tear gas in an effort to disperse the protesters, with local media estimating that roughly 3,000 individuals were part in the incident.
