PM Modi hails BJP win in Delhi elections, Kejriwal says, “Hope, they fulfill promises”

The Bhartiya Janata Party has emerged victorious in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, restricting AAP on 22 seats only. This comes as a historic landslide victory for BJP which is coming back to power after 27 long years, ending a decade long rule of AAP.

Taking to X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Jana Shakti is paramount! Development wins, good governance triumphs. I bow to my dear sisters and brothers of Delhi for this historic mandate for @Bjp4India. We are humbled and honored to receive these blessings.

It is our guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in developing Delhi, improving the overall quality of life for the people and ensuring that Delhi has a prime role to play in building a Viksit Bharat.”

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has accepted the defeat of his party and people’s verdict. In a video address, the former Chief minister of Delhi said, “We accept the people’s mandate with humility. I congratulate the BJP and hope they will deliver on their promises.” Kejriwal also highlighted upon the work of his party in health, education and infrastructure saying, “AAP will continue playing a constructive role as Delhi’s opposition while continuing to serve Delhites.”

Thanking the workers of AAP, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I thank all AAP workers for their hard work during the elections. We fought a good election.”

The outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Aatishi Singh who is one of the big faces of AAP, also the only one who has managed to win from Kalkaji also had something to say. She responded, “I thank the people of Kalkaji for showing trust in me. I congratulate my team who worked against ‘bahubal’. We accept the people’s mandate. I have won but it’s not the time to celebrate but continue the ‘war’ against BJP.” Aatishi won from Kalkaji for the second consecutive term after 2020, in an intense battle defeating BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’s Alka

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also shared a post on X, where he wrote, “Delhi ke dil mein Modi. Delhi has taught a lesson to those who break promises, setting an example for the entire nation. The victory is a testament to the faith in Modi ji’s vision.” He also took a jibe at AAP saying that the electorate had rejected “false promises, dirty Yamuna water, broken roads and unchecked liquor shops.”
