PM Modi Meets French President Macron, to Co-Chair AI Summit

PARIS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday during his three-day visit to France. He will co-chair an artificial intelligence (AI) summit with global tech leaders and foreign leaders.

Prime Minister received a grand welcome from the Indian community as he arrived in Paris. Despite the cold weather, many people gathered to greet him. "What a memorable welcome in Paris! The chilly weather did not stop our Indian community from showing their love. I am grateful and proud of their achievements," Modi said.

During his visit, Modi will meet French President Emmanuel Macron. They will have both private and group discussions and will also speak at the India-France CEO's Forum.

Before leaving for France, Modi said this trip would be a chance to check on the progress of the 2047 Horizon Roadmap for India-France relations. He called President Macron his "friend" and looked forward to working together.

On Wednesday, Modi and Macron will visit the Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseille. This cemetery, managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, honors Indian soldiers who fought in World War I.

Key Discussions in France

PM Modi’s visit includes discussions on nuclear energy and meetings with business leaders. Before the AI Summit in Paris, Macron welcomed him with a hug at a dinner. At the dinner, Modi also met US Vice President JD Vance, who is in France for the summit.

AI Action Summit

PM Modi and other world leaders will co-chair the AI Action Summit, which will bring together global leaders and tech executives. The main goal is to explore how AI can be used for the public good.

Opening of India’s First Consulate in Marseille

During the visit, Modi and Macron will also inaugurate India’s first consulate in Marseille. This marks an important step in strengthening India-France diplomatic ties.

Horizon 2047 Roadmap

Modi will review progress on the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, which India and France launched in 2023. This initiative aims to strengthen their partnership in key areas until 2047.

Nuclear Energy Collaboration - PM Modi will visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project in Marseille with Macron. This joint project with France focuses on advancing nuclear fusion for energy generation.

Honoring Indian Soldiers - As part of his visit, Modi will pay tribute to Indian soldiers who fought in the World Wars by visiting the Mazargues War Cemetery.

After his visit to France, PM Modi will travel to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This will be his first meeting with Trump since he took office on January 20. The visit will focus on strengthening India-US ties in technology, defense, and economic growth. Trade tariffs are expected to be a major topic of discussion.
