New Delhi: Political turmoil in the country has increased over the past few days, while PM Narendra Modi met Union ministers including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh at his official residence in New Delhi on Sunday. According to sources, the meeting has been held to review the functioning of the ministers. Prime Minister Modi had held about five meetings with Union Ministers in different groups to inspect the work done so far by different ministries early this month. Sources said, apart from Shah and Rajnath Singh, Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal also attended today's meeting. While detailed information on the meeting is yet to be received and the target of the meeting has not yet been revealed, political observers says it could be a pre-expansion and reshuffle exercise. It is also being speculated that issues in Jammu and Kashmir may also be discussed in the meeting. Meanwhile, 14 leaders of Jammu and Kashmir have been invited for a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi on June 24 in the capital Delhi. A number of discussions have started on this meeting. In fact, the meeting will be the first such exercise since the Central Government announced the cancellation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 and bifurcation of it into two Union Territories. Therefore, the meeting is being linked to the setting up of a roadmap for holding assembly elections there for the first time. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other Union leaders are also likely to attend the meeting.
