New Delhi: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended wishes to the nation on the commencement of the month of Ramzan (Ramadhan). During Ramzan, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk and shun worldly pleasures. "May this holy month bring greater unity and harmony in our society," Prime Minster Modi said in a tweet. In multiple tweet, "May it also reaffirm the importance of serving the poor", PM modi wrote. \ Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also extended greetings on the begenning of the month of Ramzan. Taking to Twitter, CM wrote, "Happy Ramadan to all of you, May this holy month of worship bring lots of happiness and progress in your life." Congress leader Rahul Gandhi greet Muslims: "Ramzan Mubarak! May this blessed month bring love, happiness and togetherness to all," Ramzan, which is considered to be the holiest month in the religion of Islam, has finally arrived. It marks the beginning of the month-long fasting period. During the thirty days or so, people belonging to the Muslim community observe restraint in their eating habits and eat only twice a day and a post-fast meal after sunset called 'iftar'.Traditionally, the fast is broken with dates and water followed by a light and nutritious meal.
