PM Modi speaks on World Environment Day, 'Many challenges being faced due to climate change'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the E100 pilot project at a world environment day event through video conferencing. At the same time, PM Modi unveiled the Expert Committee's report on the Action Plan for Ethanol Blending in India for the year 2020-25.

PM Modi said that India has taken another big step on the occasion of World Environment Day today. A detailed roadmap for the development of ethanol sector has just been released. The ambitious E-100 pilot project related to production and distribution of ethanol across the country has also been launched in Pune. Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said, "India is also aware of the challenges being faced by climate change and is actively working to deal with them."

PM Modi said that "Ethanol is now linked to India's major priorities of the 21st century. The focus on ethanol is having a positive impact on the environment as well as the lives of farmers. Today, we have resolved to meet the target of 20 per cent ethanol blending in petrol by 2025".
