NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a program marking National Technology Day 2023 in New Delhi today, May 11. The celebration of the Silver jubilee year of National Technology Day which will be held from May 11-14. The PMO said in a public statement that "PM Modi will lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple projects related to scientific and technological advancement in the country, worth more than Rs.5800 crore." The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory-India (LIGO-India), Hingoli; Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Jatni, Odisha; and Platinum Jubilee Block of Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai are among the projects for which the foundation stone will be laid. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a former prime minister, set up National Technology Day in 1999 to recognise the scientists, engineers, and technologists who contributed to India's growth in science and technology and made the Pokhran tests in May 1998 a success. Since then, National Technology Day is celebrated every year on May 11. It is observed with a new and different theme every year. This year's theme is 'School to Startups- Igniting Young Minds to Innovate'. The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is given special focus in the programme and celebrations for National Technology Day 2023. The AIM Pavilion will include numerous outstanding projects that highlight the subject of this year's National Technology Day and provide visitors the chance to participate in tinkering activities, watch live tinkering sessions, and view remarkable ideas and products by Startups.
