NEW DELHI: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit West Bengal on Friday, December 30 to lay foundation stone and dedicate to the nation projects worth more than Rs 7,800 crore. The Prime Minsiter will chair the second meeting of the National Ganga Council in Kolkata. The Prime Minsiter will lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple sewerage infrastructure projects in West Bengal valued at more than Rs 2,550 crore. PM Modi will also flag off Vande Bharat Express connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri. He will also inaugurate Joka-Taratala stretch of Purple Line of Kolkata Metro. Moreover, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple railway projects including the laying of foundation stone of the re-development of New Jalpaiguri railway station. The PM will also inaugurate Syama Prasad Mookerjee National Institute of Water and Sanitation. This will be the Prime Minister's prime visit to Kolkata since the end of the 2021 West Bengal assembly polls 20 months ago, which the BJP had lost to the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress by a huge margin. The PM had campaigned extensively in the state in the run-up to the elections.
