The renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar passed away on Monday night in Mumbai and today on the demise of her the Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to show his condolences. PM Modi in a tweet wrote "Demise of Kishori Amonkar is an irreparable loss to Indian classical music. Deeply pained by her demise. May her soul rest in peace" The 84-year-old was considered as the foremost singers in the Hindustani tradition and is an innovator of the Jaipurgharana. She had also received the Padma Bhushan in 1987 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2002.
