PM Modi Urges Social Media Users to Support Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign on Independence Day

New Delhi: On Sunday, August 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged social media users to show their support for the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign by changing their display pictures (DPs) to the Indian Tricolour. The campaign is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, aimed at fostering a deeper connection between India and its citizens.

Prime Minister Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his message, urging people to change their DPs and participate in the "Har Ghar Tiranga" movement. This initiative, which celebrates India's 76th year of independence, encourages individuals to bring the national flag, Tiranga, into their homes and hoist it as a symbol of patriotism and nation-building.

The Ministry of Culture, in its efforts to promote the campaign, has distributed around 2.5 crore national flags to post offices for sale. The campaign has gained momentum and evolved into a "people's movement," showcasing increased public involvement. To commemorate Independence Day, "Prabhat Pheris" (morning processions) and "Tiranga Yatras" (flag marches) are scheduled from August 13 to August 15, along with larger events at public spaces, schools, and colleges.

According to Union Culture Secretary Mohan, the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign has transformed into a widespread movement, with growing "janbhagidari" (public participation). Selfies featuring the national flag are being uploaded by thousands daily, and the "Meri Maati Mera Desh" campaign encourages the installation of Shilaphalakams, commemorating the nation's heroes, at prominent locations.
