PM Modi’s Panch Pran on Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort as India celebrates its 76th Independence Day. The celebrations for 75th year of Independence are being marked by a mega program, the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, which started in March 2021. The Day will be observed by flag hoisting and other events.

Freedom Fighters

PM Modi in his speech speaking about the contribution on freedom fighters said, “There was not one year where our freedom fighters did not face brutality and cruelty during our freedom struggle. Today is the day when, as we pay them our respects, we need to remember their vision and dream for India.”

PM Modi called upon the people to move forward with five pledges to fulfill the dreams of freedom fighters by 2047 -- a theme President Droupadi Murmu had also underscored it in her speech on the eve of Independence Day. The five pledges for 2047 are -- having developed India, removing any sign of servility, pride in heritage, unity, and fulfilling our duties, PM Modi said. PM Modi laid out 5 promises for the development of India which are: 1. Developed India: India will only aspire big; 2. No form of slavery; 3. Pride in our heritage; 4. Unity among 130 crore Indians; 5. The duty of citizens

PM Modi also added about India as an Aspirational society, “People thought the exit of the British will lead to anarchy in India, but we have proved them wrong. India's strength is its aspirational society. The government will have to work towards fulfilling the aspirations of its people.”

PM Modi in his speech about the importance of Gender Equality As PM Modi talked about unity, he laid emphasis on gender equality, and in the same breath, he said women in the country should not be insulted.
