KUWAIT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Kuwait for a landmark two-day visit at the invitation of Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait. This historic visit breaks a 43-year hiatus, as it is the first time an Indian Prime Minister has traveled to the Gulf nation since Indira Gandhi's trip in 1981. Upon landing, PM Modi received a warm reception and expressed his eagerness to engage with Kuwaiti leadership and the Indian expatriate community. In a statement before his departure, he emphasized the deep historical connections between India and Kuwait, which have grown over generations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with the visiting foreign minister regarding the situation in West Asia, emphasizing India's strong support for the swift restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region. The talks took place in the backdrop of Kuwait hosting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit on December 1. At the summit, Kuwait highlighted the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, called on the international community to ensure protection for innocent civilians, and advocated for the establishment of safe corridors to facilitate the delivery of critical humanitarian aid. Key Highlights of the Visit During his stay, PM Modi is scheduled to hold discussions with the Emir, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister of Kuwait. These talks aim to create a roadmap for a future-focused partnership between the two nations. "We greatly value our historical ties with Kuwait. Beyond our strong trade and energy partnerships, we share a commitment to peace, security, stability, and prosperity in the West Asia region," Modi remarked. The Prime Minister will also attend the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup, showcasing India's engagement with the cultural and sports activities of the region. Strengthening Economic and People-to-People Ties India is one of Kuwait's top trading partners, with significant collaboration in energy and other sectors. Kuwait hosts the largest Indian expatriate community in the Gulf, and PM Modi’s visit underscores India's commitment to its diaspora. Modi is set to interact with members of the vibrant Indian community, who contribute significantly to the socio-economic fabric of Kuwait. A Historic Opportunity This visit holds great potential to further deepen the bilateral relationship between India and Kuwait, addressing shared interests and exploring new avenues of cooperation in trade, technology, and cultural exchanges. As PM Modi continues his engagements, this historic visit is poised to solidify India-Kuwait ties for a prosperous and collaborative future. More Updates to come....................
