PM Narendra Modi donates 200 cows under Girinka project

Kigali [Rwanda], Jul 24 (NT): PM Narendra Modi gifted cows to 200 households in Rweru model village in Bugesera, under Rwandan Government's Girinka Programme.

Worth mention here Girinka describes a centuries-old cultural practice in Rwanda whereby a cow was given by one person to another, as a sign of respect and gratitude.

EAM spoke person Raveesh Kumar taking to twitter shred the images of this memorable monment.  He captioned, “Transforming lives in rural areas! More images of cow donation function under Rwanda's Girinka programme.  Rwandan President @PaulKagame joined PM @narendramodi at the event”.

 He also shared a video and said, “Being part of a transformative project towards economic development of Rwanda! PM @narendramodi donates 200 cows under #Girinka - One Cow per Poor Family Programme at Rweru village. Girinka is an ambitious projects that provides both nutritional & financial security to the poor”.

Earlier PM Narendra Modi visited the Genocide Memorial Centre in Kigali. The Memorial honours the victims of the worst excesses of violence. It is also symbolic of the admirable and exemplary process of reconciliation Rwanda has embarked upon.

Earlier a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the Indian Diaspora living outside India as 'rashtradoots' or ambassadors for the country.
