PM Modi concludes visit to Bhutan, leaves for India

Thimphu: After finishing a two-day official visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for home on Sunday. During his two-day visit, Mr Modi met the top leadership of Bhutan to strengthen bilateral ties. Before leaving Bhutan, Modi said, "Thank you Bhutan! The visit was memorable. The love I have received from the people of this glorious country can never be forgotten. There were many programmes where I had the distinction of being involved. The visit will further strengthen bilateral relations. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhutan on Saturday. This was Modi's second visit to Bhutan and the second after being elected Prime Minister in May this year. During his stay in Thimphu, Modi held detailed discussions with Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotte Shering on Saturday. The two top leaders also discussed steps to advance bilateral partnership in a number of areas. During The visit, the two countries signed MoUs in ten areas. These agreements cover the areas of space research, aviation, information technology, energy and education.

Prime Minister Modi met King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on Saturday and exchanged exemplary views on advancing the Indo-Bhutan partnership. Subsequently, PM Modi met the fourth King of Bhutan Jigme Singhe Wangchuck and praised him for his continued and unique guidance on strengthening the relations between India and Bhutan.
