Kolkata: Political turmoil continues ahead of next year's assembly elections in West Bengal. Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi will address the centenary celebrations of Visva Bharati University today. PM Modi's address will be around 11 pm. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhanhar and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal will also be present at the event. This is the second time in the last few days that PM Narendra Modi is attending a major event related to West Bengal. Earlier, PM Modi had attended Durga Puja in Bengal. The political battle between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is continuing before the assembly elections are scheduled to take over in Bengal around May 2021. Earlier, BJP national president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Bengal and targeted the TMC. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also scheduled to visit Bengal in January, where he is to address a public meeting. Even after PM Narendra Modi's address on Thursday, a press conference of the Trinamool Congress is going to be held. It is believed that political mercury can increase in the state after PM Modi's address.
